Multiview projection - Wikipedia. In technical drawing and computer graphics, a multiview projection is a technique of illustration by which a standardized series of orthographictwo- dimensional pictures is constructed to represent the form of a three- dimensional object. Up to six pictures of an object are produced (called primary views), with each projection plane parallel to one of the coordinate axes of the object. The views are positioned relative to each other according to either of two schemes: first- angle or third- angle projection. In each, the appearances of views may be thought of as being projected onto planes that form a six- sided box around the object. Although six different sides can be drawn, usually three views of a drawing give enough information to make a three- dimensional object. These views are known as front view, top view and end view. Other names for these views include plan, elevation and section. The terms orthographic projection and orthogonal projection are sometimes reserved specifically for multiviews. However, orthographic and orthogonal more correctly refer to the right angle formed between the projection rays and the projection plane, versus the angle formed between the subject of the drawing and the projection plane. Thus, orthographic projections include axonometric or auxiliary views in addition to multiviews. Overview. However, even if the faces of the box are unfolded in one standardized way, there is ambiguity as to which projection is being displayed by a particular face; the cube has two faces that are perpendicular to a ray of sight, and the points of interest may be projected onto either one of them, a choice which has resulted in two predominant standards of projection: First- angle projection: The points of interest are projected in the same direction as the ray of sight; the points are projected onto the plane that lies behind the object, as determined by the ray of sight; the plane of projection acts like the top of a table over which the points of interest are dropped into place. Third- angle projection: The points of interest are projected in the opposite direction of the ray of sight; the points are projected onto the plane that lies in front of the object, as determined by the ray of sight; the plane of projection acts like a glass table from under which the observer sees the points of interest after they have been dropped into place on the top of the table. Primary views. These primary views are called plans and elevations. Describe object's corner position in canvas object absolute coordinates properties are tl,tr,bl,br and describe the four main corner. Rotation Matrix. When discussing a rotation, there are two possible conventions: rotation of the axes, and rotation of the object relative to fixed axes. Time Supplement. This supplement answers a series of questions designed to reveal more about what science requires of physical time, and to provide background. Rotating an object in 3D is a neat way of letting your users interact with the scene, but the math can be tricky to get right. In this article, I'll take a look. In a rotating sphere, such as the Earth and other planets, the two ends of the. Sometimes they are shown as if the object has been cut across or sectioned to expose the interior: these views are called sections. It may be drawn in the position of a horizontal plane passing through, above, or below the object. The outline of a shape in this view is sometimes called its planform, for example with aircraft wings. The plan view from above a building is called its roof plan. A section seen in a horizontal plane through the walls and showing the floor beneath is called a floor plan. Elevation. In other words, an elevation is a side- view as viewed from the front, back, left or right (and referred to as a front elevation, . Building fa. Perspectives are also commonly used for this purpose. A building elevation is typically labeled in relation to the compass direction it faces; the direction from which a person views it. These are drawn to scale so that measurements can be taken for any aspect necessary. Drawing sets include front, rear and both side elevations. The elevations specify the composition of the different facades of the building, including ridge heights, the positioning of the final fall of the land, exterior finishes, roof pitches and other architectural details. Developed Elevation. For example, the north and west views may be shown side- by- side, sharing an edge, even though this does not represent a proper orthographic projection. Section. It is often used in technical drawing and is traditionally crosshatched. The style of crosshatching often indicates the type of material the section passes through. With computed axial tomography, computers construct cross- sections from x- ray data. A 2- D cross- sectional view of a compression seal. Cross- section of a jet engine. Auxiliary views. Using the auxiliary view allows for that inclined plane (and any other significant features) to be projected in their true size and shape. The true size and shape of any feature in an engineering drawing can only be known when the Line of Sight (LOS) is perpendicular to the plane being referenced. Auxiliary views tend to make use of axonometric projection. Multiviews. A two- dimensional representation of the object is then created by . This produces two plans and four elevations. A simpler way to visualize this is to place the object on top of an upside- down bowl. Sliding the object down the right edge of the bowl reveals the right side view. An image of an object in a box. The same image, with views of object projected in the direction of sight onto walls using first- angle projection. Similar image showing the box unfolding from around the object. Image showing orthographic views located relative to each other in accordance with first- angle projection. Third- angle projection. Third angle projection is used. In third- angle projection, the object is conceptually located in quadrant III, i. The box is then unfolded to view all of its exterior walls. A simpler way to visualize this is to place the object in the bottom of a bowl. Sliding the object up the right edge of the bowl reveals the right side view. Here is the construction of third angle projections of the same object as above. Note that the individual views are the same, just arranged differently. Additional information. It is standard throughout Europe and Asia (excluding Japan). First- angle projection was widely used in the UK, but during World War II, British drawings sent to be manufactured in the USA, such as of the Rolls- Royce Merlin, had to be drawn in third- angle projection before they could be produced, e. Packard V- 1. 65. Merlin. This historical position of the UK means that some British companies completely adopted third angle projection. BS 3. 08 (Part 1) Engineering Drawing Practice, gave the option of using both projections, but generally every illustration (other than the ones explaining the difference between first and third- angle) was done in first- angle. After the withdrawal of BS 3. BS 8. 88. 8 offered the same choice since it referred directly to ISO 5. Technical drawings – Projection methods – Part 2: Orthographic representations. Third- angle is as if the object were a box to be unfolded. If we unfold the box so that the front view is in the center of the two arms, then the top view is above it, the bottom view is below it, the left view is to the left, and the right view is to the right. It is standard in the USA (ASME Y1. Japan (JIS B 0. 00. Canada, and Australia. Both first- angle and third- angle projections result in the same 6 views; the difference between them is the arrangement of these views around the box. A great deal of confusion has ensued in drafting rooms and engineering departments when drawings are transferred from one convention to another. On engineering drawings, the projection angle is denoted by an international symbol consisting of a truncated cone, respectively for first- angle and third- angle: http: //www. The top view is therefore two concentric circles (. In particular, the fact that the inner circle is drawn with a solid line instead of dashed identifies this view as the top view, not the bottom view. In first- angle projection, the . Orthographic projection is distinguished by parallel projectors emanating from all points of the imaged object and which intersect of projection at right angles. Above, a technique is described that obtains varying views by projecting images after the object is rotated to a desired position. Descriptive geometry customarily relies on obtaining various views by imagining an object to be stationary, and changing the direction of projection (viewing) in order to obtain the desired view. See Figure 1. Using the rotation technique above, note that no orthographic view is available looking perpendicularly at any of the inclined surfaces. Suppose a technician desired such a view to, say, look through a hole to be drilled perpendicularly to the surface. Such a view might be desired for calculating clearances or for dimensioning purposes. To obtain this view without multiple rotations requires the principles of Descriptive Geometry. The steps below describe the use of these principles in third angle projection. The angled corner of the plane of projection is addressed later. For the most part, this manual assumes basic knowledge of the X. If you’re already a master of Plane Maker, it probably makes sense to just keep this document around for reference. If instead you’re coming to this manual as a guide for a complete walkthrough to creating your first aircraft, it probably makes sense to read through in this order: About This Manual (this page)Introduction to Plane Maker. The Plane Maker Interface. Shaping the Body of an Aircraft. Working with the Aircraft’s Systems, Section “Creating the Engines”Creating an Instrument Panel. Modifying an Aircraft’s Properties, Section “Setting the Weight and Balance”Performing a Test Flight. Following the chapter Performing a Test Flight, your aircraft would be at least tested, and you could go back through the sections you skipped as necessary. We recommend that users consult the Glossary of Terms found at the end of this manual for reference as needed. Introduction to Plane Maker. Plane Maker is a program bundled with X. Using this software, nearly any aircraft imaginable can be built. Once all the physical specifications of the airplane have been entered (e. X. These files are then opened and flown in the X. Users can create a . ZIP on the Internet for others to fly. Planes created by others can also be downloaded and used in the simulator. X- Plane. org’s “Download Manager” page is a good place both to upload and download these planes. Note that information on how to add aircraft to X. If you choose to, you can share the files freely, even with users of the demo version of X- Plane. You can do whatever you like with the files. One excellent use for Plane Maker is to create the airplane of your dreams, fly it in X- Plane, and then upload it to the Internet for others to fly. Even better, if a company has an exciting new airplane, they can build in Plane Maker, test fly it in X- Plane, and then put it on the company’s web site for customers or potential customers to download! Anyone that has X. This will serve two purposes. First, it will teach more people to fly the airplane, creating potential customers. Then, it will improve the currency of those that already fly it, creating safer customers. Carter Aviation, creators of the Carter. Copter, have done this successfully on their website. Of course, Plane Maker can also be used to model an aircraft that you already have and fly every day, helping you to keep up your stick- and- rudder and instrument skills. An Overview of the Plane Maker Workflow. There are as many different ways to go about working in Plane Maker as there are aircraft designers. The following steps, though, serve as a good workflow sequence to start from when modeling in Plane Maker: Decide on a design. Create the fuselage, wings, and tail of the aircraft. Create secondary objects, such as landing gears and engine nacelles. Set up the systems and internal properties, including the engines, electrical systems, weight and balance, and viewpoints. Set up any additional features of the aircraft, such as added weapons or special controls. Create a 2- D instrument panel. Test- fly the aircraft in X. Steps 2–8 above will be covered in this manual; for Step 1, you’re on your own! The Plane Maker Interface. Remember that definitions for any unfamiliar terms may be found in the Glossary. Helpful information has been built into every screen of Plane Maker as well. Hold the mouse pointer over any of the boxes or buttons to bring up an explanation of the setting. Launching Plane Maker. Plane Maker is found in the main X. Simply double click Plane- Maker. Plane- Maker. app in Mac OS X) to start the program. Note that in Windows 7 and Vista, there is a known issue with both X. With Aero enabled, boxes and text may appear slightly shifted from where it should be. This problem does not occur on all Windows 7 installations. To correct it if it occurs, right click on the X- Plane. X- Plane) and click Properties. In the window that appears, go to the Compatibility tab and check the box labeled “Disable desktop composition”, shown in Figure 2. Repeat this for the Plane Maker icon, or the shortcut you use to launch Plane Maker. Figure 2. 1: Option to disable desktop composition. You have the option of editing dimensions in metric units. To change the unit of measure, open the Viewpoint dialog from the Standard menu. In the General tab, click the check box labeled “edit in metric dimensions,” found on the right side of the cockpit information box. Note: Checking this will not alter the unit of measure for thrust or weight. Opening and Saving an Aircraft. To open an aircraft in Plane Maker, click on the File menu and click Open, per Figure 2. There, navigate to the folder containing the . X- Plane. Select a specific paint job for the aircraft (known as a livery) by clicking one of the buttons in the bottom right section of the Open Aircraft screen, if applicable. Then, double click on the ACF, or click once and click the Open button. To save any changes you have made to the aircraft file, open the File menu and click Save. Any changes you made to the aircraft will be reflected the next time you load the aircraft in X- Plane. Figure 2. 2: Clicking File –> Open. Creating an Aircraft File. To create a new aircraft project, open the File menu and click New. Plane Maker will create a new aircraft with nothing but a cylindrical fuselage. If you click File –> Save As from here, you can choose which folder to save the new aircraft in. Be sure to create the folder first in your file browser (Windows Explorer, Finder, etc.). The standard place to save aircraft is in the Aircraft directory, located within the main X. For instance, a VTOL craft created for X. You may proceed through this manual in order by clicking the “Understood” button in the warning pop up after each save. If you would prefer to stop the warning messages, first set the “velocity never exceed (Vne)” as described in the section “Setting V- Speeds and G Limits” below. Next you would need to set the weight by following the section “Setting the Weight and Balance” and how the fuel is distributed in the tank(s) by following the directions in “Configuring the Fuel System.”Author Details and Basic Information. The “Aircraft Author” window is available for users to input detailed information about themselves and their aircraft creations. You should begin any new aircraft by filling in as many of the fields here as possible. Figure 2. 3: The available fields in the Author dialog. While these fields are not in use currently in the X. By filling out these fields, when that user interface upgrade comes, you’ll be able to search through your aircraft by name, manufacturer, category (general aviation, airliner, glider, etc.), design studio, and more. Working with the Views. D aircraft model. Figure 2. 4: The 3- D aircraft model in the main Plane Maker window. In the main Plane Maker window sits a 3- D model of the aircraft you’re working on. For instance, Figure 2. D model for X. Note that the axes are inverted; press the left arrow to move the model right, press the down arrow to move it up, and so on. You can use the W, A, S, and D keys to spin and roll the 3- D model around its center. You can use the - and = keys to zoom out and in, respectively. Note that you can zoom in and out or move the model faster by holding down the Shift key while pressing the up, down, left, right, - , or = keys. Additionally, in most of the settings dialog boxes, a 3- D model of the aircraft is visible on the right side of the screen when the Plane Maker window itself is wide enough. For example, consider Figure 2. Figure 2. 5: This window is wide enough to see the 3- D model. Plane Maker can display either the regular, “skinned” view of the aircraft model (where the model looks as it would in X- Plane), or it can display a wireframe view showing the actual structure of the aircraft. To swap between these two views, press the spacebar. Figure 2. 6 shows these two views side- by- side. Figure 2. 6: The skinned view of the 7. The wireframe view can be especially useful for telling where exactly a piece of the aircraft is in relation to the rest of the body, and it is the only view in which the points representing the aircraft’s center of gravity, the pilot’s viewpoint, the jet engine locations, and other such features are visible. These are represented as large black dots in the wireframe. Special Views. The Background menu has a number of special viewing angles that are useful for many designers. These are the Top, Bottom, Side, Front, and Back views, as seen below. Figure 2. 7: The five special viewing angles. Clicking one of these options in the menu will shift the 3- D model to the indicated perspective. For instance, the Top view gives a top- down view of the aircraft, the Side view gives a straight- on view of the craft’s port (left) side, and so on. One potential use for these views is to compare the aircraft model to an image of the real thing. We want the magic community to have a channel that will take the You. May 1. 96. 1 he made the first manned Project Mercury flight, MR- 3, in a spacecraft he named Freedom 7. His craft entered space, but did not achieve orbit. He became the second person, and the first American, to travel into space, and the first person to manually control the orientation of his spacecraft. In the final stages of Project Mercury, Shepard was scheduled to pilot the Mercury- Atlas 1. MA- 1. 0), which was planned as a three- day mission. He named Mercury Spacecraft 1. B Freedom 7 II in honor of his first spacecraft, but the mission was cancelled. Shepard was designated as the commander of the first manned Project Gemini mission, but was grounded in 1. M. This was surgically corrected in 1. Shepard commanded the Apollo 1. Apollo Lunar Module. Antares to the most accurate landing of the Apollo missions. At age 4. 7, he became the fifth and oldest person to walk on the Moon, and the only one of the Mercury Seven astronauts to do so. During the mission, he hit two golf balls on the lunar surface. He was Chief of the Astronaut Office from November 1. July 1. 96. 9 (the approximate period of his grounding), and from June 1. United States Navy and NASA on August 1, 1. He was promoted to rear admiral on August 2. Early life and education. He had a younger sister, Pauline, who was known as Polly. He was one of many famous descendants of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren. His father, Alan B. Shepard Sr., known as Bart, worked in the Derry National Bank, owned by Shepard's grandfather. He joined the National Guard in 1. France with the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. He remained in the National Guard between the wars, and was recalled to active duty during World War II, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Shepard attended Adams School in Derry, where his academic performance impressed his teachers; he skipped the sixth grade, and proceeded to middle school at Oak Street School in Derry, where he skipped the eighth grade. In 1. 93. 6, he went to the Pinkerton Academy, a private school in Derry that his father had attended, and where his grandfather had been a trustee. He completed years 9 to 1. Fascinated by flight, he created a model airplane club at the Academy, and his Christmas present in 1. Douglas DC- 3. The following year he began cycling to Manchester Airfield, where he would do odd jobs in exchange for the occasional ride in an airplane or informal flying lesson. Shepard graduated from the Pinkerton Academy in 1. Because World War II was already raging in Europe, his father wanted him to join the Army. Shepard chose the Navy instead. He easily passed the entrance exam to the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1. The Navy sent him to the Admiral Farragut Academy, a prep school for the Naval Academy, from which he graduated with the class of 1. Tests administered at Farragut indicated an IQ of 1. At Annapolis, Shepard enjoyed aquatic sports. He was a keen and competitive sailor, winning several races, including a regatta held by the Annapolis Yacht Club. He learned to sail all the types of boats the academy owned, up to and including USS Freedom, a 9. He also participated in swimming, and rowed with the eight. During his Christmas break in 1. Principia College to be with his sister, who was unable to go home owing to wartime travel restrictions. There he met Louise Brewer, whose parents were pensioners on the du Pont family estate, and, like Renza Shepard, were devout Christian Scientists. Owing to the war, the usual four- year course at Annapolis was cut short by a year, and he graduated and was commissioned as an ensign on June 6, 1. The following month he became secretly engaged to Louise. Navy service. At the time the destroyer was deployed on active service in the Pacific Ocean. Shepard joined it when it returned to the naval base at Ulithi on October 3. The ship was buffeted by Typhoon Cobra in December 1. Lingayen Gulf in January 1. Cogswell returned to the United States for an overhaul in February 1. Shepard was given three weeks' leave, in which time he and Louise decided to marry. The ceremony took place on March 3, 1. St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Wilmington, Delaware. His father, Bart, served as his best man. The newlyweds had only a brief time together before Shepard rejoined Cogswell at the Long Beach Navy Yard on April 5, 1. After the war, they had two children, both daughters: Laura, born in 1. Julie, born in 1. Following the death of Louise's sister in 1. Judith Williams—whom they renamed Alice to avoid confusion with Julie—as their own, although they never adopted her. They engaged kamikazes in the Battle of Okinawa, where the ship served in the dangerous role of a radar picket. The job of the radar pickets was to warn the fleet of incoming kamikazes; but because they were often the first ships sighted by incoming Japanese aircraft, they were also the most likely ships to be attacked. Cogswell performed this duty from May 2. June 2. 6, when it rejoined Task Force 3. The ship also participated in the Allied naval bombardments of Japan, and was present in Tokyo Bay for the Surrender of Japan in September 1. Shepard returned to the United States later that month. He was an average student, and for a time faced being . To make up for this, he took private lessons at a local civilian flying school—something the Navy frowned on—earning a civil pilot's license. His flying skills gradually improved, and by early 1. He was sent to Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida for advanced training. His final test was six perfect landings on the carrier USS Saipan. The following day, he received his naval aviatorwings, which his father pinned on his chest. Shepard was assigned to Fighter Squadron 4. VF- 4. 2), flying the Vought F4. U Corsair. The squadron was nominally based on the aircraft carrier. USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, but the ship was being overhauled at the time Shepard arrived, and in the meantime the squadron was based at Naval Air Station Norfolk in Virginia. He departed on his first cruise, of the Caribbean, on Franklin D. Roosevelt with VF- 4. Most of the aviators were, like Shepard, on their first assignment. Those that were not were given the opportunity to qualify for night landings on a carrier, a dangerous maneuver, especially in a Corsair, which had to bank sharply on approach. Shepard managed to persuade his squadron commander to allow him to qualify as well. After briefly returning to Norfolk, the carrier set out on a nine- month tour of the Mediterranean Sea. He earned a reputation for carousing and chasing women. He also instituted a ritual of, whenever he could, calling Louise at 1. Normally sea duty alternated with periods of duty ashore. In 1. 95. 0, Shepard was selected to attend the United States Naval Test Pilot School at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland. As a test pilot he conducted high- altitude tests to obtain information about the light and air masses at different altitudes over North America; carrier suitability certification of the Mc. Donnell F2. H Banshee; experiments with the Navy's new in- flight refueling system; and tests of the angled flight deck. Pride, after looping the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and making low passes over the beach at Ocean City, Maryland, and the base; but Shepard's superiors, John Hyland and Robert M. Elder, interceded on his behalf. Shepard's next assignment was to VF- 1. Banshee, that was based at Naval Air Station Moffett Field, California. The squadron was part of Commander James D. Naval aviators with experience in jet aircraft were still relatively rare, and Ramage specifically requested Shepard's assignment on the advice of Elder, who commanded VF- 1. VF- 1. 91. Ramage made Shepard his own wingman, a decision that would save Ramage's life in 1. Shepard talked him through a landing. As squadron operations officer, Shepard's most important task was imparting his knowledge of flying jets to his fellow aviators to keep them alive. He served two tours on the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany in the western Pacific. It set out on a combat tour off Korea in 1. Korean War, but the Korean Armistice Agreement ended the fighting in July 1. Shepard did not see combat. Rear Admiral John P. Whitney requested Shepard's services as an aide de camp, but Shepard wanted to fly. Therefore, at Shepard's request, Ramage spoke to the admiral on his behalf, and Shepard was instead sent back to Patuxent. He flight tested the Mc. Donnell F3. H Demon, Vought F- 8 Crusader, Douglas F4. D Skyray and Grumman F- 1. Tiger. The Vought F7. U Cutlass had a tendency to go into an inverted spin during a snap roll. This was not unusual; many aircraft did this, but normally if the pilot let go of the stick the aircraft would correct itself. When he attempted this in the F7. U, Shepard found this was not the case. He was unable to break out of the spin and was forced to eject. In 1. 95. 7, he was project test pilot on the Douglas F5. D Skylancer. Shepard did not like the plane, and gave it an unfavorable report. The Navy cancelled orders for it, buying the F8. U instead. He also filed an unfavorable report on the F1. F after a harrowing incident in which the engine failed on him during a high- speed dive. Fortunately, he managed to restart the engine. Shepard was an instructor at the Test Pilot School, and then entered the Naval War College at Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated in 1. Aircraft Readiness Officer on the staff of the Commander- in- Chief, Atlantic Fleet. A PPG and RRB short story - Can't beat em' - The Rowdy. Ruff Boys. NARRATOR: Ah, Townsville. BRICK: Yeah, don't give me a lecture. BLOSSOM*giggling*: What do you mean? BRICK: I just said don't give me a lecture, whats up with you giggles?(Buttercup went to check on Bubbles, why Butch went to check on Boomer,)BLOSSOM: Since no ones around, I want to tell you that every time I fought with you, and hurt you, I didn't want to, I felt sorry. BRICK: Me to.(Buttercup is flying back, and so is Butch.)BUTCH: Hi Buttercup.. BUTTERCUP: Huh? BUTCH: I said hi. BUTTERCUP: Oh. Hi. BUTCH: So, whats up hot stuff?(Butch covers his mouth because he said . Buttercup blushes and smiles. They like each other, and they new it. Bubbles gets up and goes to Boomer.)BUBBLES: Hi Boomer. Along with Awesome Games Done Quick at the start of the year, SGDQ has grown bigger every year and proved an awesome way to kick- off the summer. Setup at the at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, speedrunners of all different games will be showing off their skills and arcane knowledge in an effort to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. Of course there’s plenty of great stuff in- between, including classics like Diablo II and Chrono Trigger, as well as a personal favorite of mine, G. I. Joe: The Atlantis Factor. Here’s the remaining schedule for the week- long event: If you’re new to speedrunning, the great part about SGDQ is that every playthrough includes interesting color commentary of the game in question and explanations of how the speedrunners are able to exploit each little idiosyncrasy to cut time off the attempt. All of the runs will be broadcast live in the Twitch stream below, but you can also check the You. Tube archives for anything you might have missed! What's the difference between Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis? Photosynthesis and respiration are reactions that complement each other in the environment. Cellular respiration is the process of taking Oxygen and Glucose and turning it into ATP, energy for the body. In this lecture, that is the topic I deal with. Enclosed by that membrane is the cytoplasm. Some molecules can cross the membrane without assistance. Water, non- polar molecules and some small polar molecules. Non- polar molecules penetrate by actually dissolving into the. Most polar compounds such as amino acids, organic acids. Many of the proteins in the membrane function to help carry out selective. CELL2. Cells, cytoplasm, and organelles (check this website - Cells Alive) . Cytoplasm consists of a gelatinous solution and contains microtubules. The three fibers of the cytoskeleton–microtubules in blue, intermediate filaments in red, and actin in green–play countless roles in the cell. In these cells, actin filaments appear light purple, microtubules yellow, and nuclei greenish blue. The cyotoskeleton represents the cell's skeleton. Like the bony skeletons that give us stability, the cytoskeleton gives our cells shape, strength, and the ability to move, but it does much more than that. The cytoskeleton is made up of three types of fibers that constantly shrink and grow to meet the needs of the cell: microtubules, microfilaments, and actin filaments. Each type of fiber looks, feels, and functions differently. Microtubules consists of a strong protein called tubulin and they are the 'heavy lifters' of the cytoskeleton. They do the tough physical labor of separating duplicate chromosomes when cells copy themselves and serve as sturdy railway tracks on which countless molecules and materials shuttle to and fro. They also hold the ER and Golgi neatly in stacks and form the main component of flagella and cilia. Microfilaments are unusual because they vary greatly according to their location and function in the body. For example, some microfilaments form tough coverings, such as in nails, hair, and the outer layer of skin (not to mention animal claws and scales). Others are found in nerve cells, muscle cells, the heart, and internal organs. In each of these tissues, the filaments are made of different proteins. Actin filament are made up of two chains of the protein actin twisted together. Although actin filaments are the most brittle of the cytoskeletal fibers, they are also the most versatile in terms of the shapes they can take. They can gather together into bundles, weblike networks, or even three- dimensional gels. They shorten or lengthen to allow cells to move and change shape. Together with a protein partner called myosin, actin filaments make possible the muscle contractions necessary for everything from your action on a sports field to the automatic beating of your heart. Inner life of a cell (microtubules start at about 3: 2. Cytoskeleton. Cells also contain a nucleus. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) in the form of chromatin (or chromosomes. Some ER has ribosomes on the surface (rough endoplasmic reticulum) - -the cell's protein- making machinery. Proteins that require special conditions or are destined to become part of the cell membrane are processed in the ER and then handed off to another organelle called the Golgi apparatus. The Golgi functions as a cellular post office. Proteins that arrive there are sorted, packaged and transported to various destinations in the cell. Scientists are studying many aspects of the ER and Golgi apparatus, including a built- in quality control mechanism cells use to ensure that proteins are properly made before leaving the ER (Source: NSF). Such changes over long time periods provide opportunities for organisms to adapt to new surroundings- -or, cause them to die out. Discrete segments of DNA, called genes, encode the instructions for making proteins. Work horses of the cell, proteins serve as structural material, hormones, enzymes and neurotransmitters as well as play many other roles. Tucked away inside the DNA of all of your genes are the instructions for how to construct a unique individual. Our genetic identity is . DNA's four nucleotides, abbreviated A, T, G, and C, can only match up in specific pairs: A links to T and G links to C. An intermediate in this process, called m. RNA (messenger ribonucleic acid), is made from the DNA template and serves as a link to molecular machines called ribosomes. Inside every cell, ribosomes read m. RNA sequences and hook together protein building blocks called amino acids in the order specified by the code: Groups of three nucleotides in m. RNA code for each of 2. Connector molecules called t. This exchange requires a molecule known as AAC (ADP/ATP carrier). AAC is a membrane protein that acts like a revolving door - transporting ADP into mitochondria (to be converted to ATP) and ATP out of mitochondria and into the cytoplasm (Wang and Tajkhorshid 2. The energy released in this reaction (ATP - -- > ADP) is used by cells for active transport. Cells need large amounts of ATP &. But, making ATP requires energy. But, how, specifically, is. ATP? As glucose is metabolized some ATP is produced because the energy released in some reactions is sufficient to convert ADP + P into ATP (phosphorylation). However, most of the ATP produced from glucose is derived from hydrogens that are released as glucose is metabolized. These hydrogens form molecules of NADH and FADH2 that, in mitochondria, are then used to make ATP. In mitochondria, the hydrogens associated with NADH and FADH2 are acted upon by enzymes that cause the release of their electrons to create a hydrogen ion (H+). The electrons are then passed, in a series of reactions driven by enzymes, from protein to protein (and these proteins are located in the inner membrane of mitochondria) in what is called the electron transport chain. As these electron transfer reactions occur, energy is released that is used to pump the hydrogen ions across that membrane and into the area between the two mitochondrial membranes. This creates a concentration gradient that causes the hydrogen ions to pass back through the inner membrane and, specifically, through an enzyme called ATP synthase. This flow of hydrogen ions causes the ATP synthase molecule to rotate and this, in turn, converts ADP + P into ATP (a reaction called phosphorylation). So, what occurs in mitochondria. Oxidative phosphorylation produces lots of energy. NADH and FADH2). The cellular metabolism of substrates such as glucose and fatty acids (green arrows in the figure) generates hydrogens and, specifically, hydrogen carriers — NADH and FADH2. NADH and FADH2 donate electrons to the electron- transport chain (check this animation) that consists of proteins located in the mitochondrial inner membrane. Electrons are ultimately transported to molecular oxygen that is reduced to water in the last step of the electron- transport chain. As electrons are transferred along the electron- transport chain, the energy released is used to pump protons (H+) from the mitochondrial matrix into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. ATP is then made available to the cell for various processes (e. Source: Krauss et al. Cells obtain glucose from the blood. Lego Sonic Games. You searched for. So try your best to visit our. Where to Find All the Holotape Games. Follow our handy guide to discover the location of each and every one of the 5 separate Holotape Games for the Pip- Boy 3. Mark IV in Bethesda’s Fallout 4. AAA titles with mini- games are far from a new concept. However, when developers include them, it often makes for a richer and more enjoyable experience. Such is the case with Fallout 4 and its 5 individual Holotape Games that can be played on in- game terminals as well as the title’s multi- functional database and pre- War Personal Information Processor wrist- gear, the Pip- Boy 3. Mark IV. Once fans obtained the program for mobile devices, it was discovered that the mini- game Atomic Command was included outright, leading many to correctly speculate that similar Easter eggs would be included in the main title as well. Yes, Bethesda’s parody of Missile Command can be played on the Pip- Boy app, along with all of the other send- ups of retro- arcade classics should fans “hack” into the software, but tracking down the location of each within the base game of Fallout 4 can be a lot of fun too. Plus, when at least one of the Holotape Games is found and played, it unlocks the “Future Retro” achievement or trophy, depending on what platform is being used. Along the way, players might encounter some fearsome foes, so it’s important to always remain fortified with reliable weapons and sturdy armor. However, once all of the mini- games below are a part of the protagonist’s Pip- Boy inventory, our Vault Dwellers can take a much- needed break in the post- apocalyptic Boston Commonwealth to enjoy some video games of their own. Only this time around, instead of Mario as the heroic plumber fighting the titular ape antagonist, we’re treated to Vault Boy fighting a communistic octopus. In the mini- game, players will have to climb ladders while avoiding nuclear bombs and rolling fireballs so as to reach the top and rescue the damsel in distress. After awakening from the cryogenic sleep, players are urged to escape Vault 1. It’s necessary to follow all of the waypoints on- screen until they lead to the room with the electricity shooting around every which way but loose. Of course, make sure to play it first so that the “Future Retro” achievement/trophy is unlocked. Atomic Command. As mentioned before, Atomic Command is identical to Atari’s Missile Command. Players take control of a stationary turret to blast an endless hail of ballistic missiles out of the sky before they crash and explode into the earth. In order to succeed, there are 8 locations to defend in total: New York, Washington D. C., Seattle, Las Vegas, San Francisco, St. Louis, Mount Rushmore, and of course, Boston. After finding the trapped settlers in the main quest mission entitled “When Freedom Calls”, players should come across the Holotape Game on a desk near a terminal in the debris- laden upstairs room. Pipfall. In case gaming fans aren’t aware yet, Bethesda has a penchant for wordplay, as is evidenced with the pun- based Holotape Game Pipfall. Essentially, this is a Fallout 4 re- skin of Activision’s popular 1. Pitfall! Of course, instead of navigating the title’s original character Pitfall Harry throughout a maze- like jungle filled with natural dangers to recover treasures, players will take control of Vault Boy. The goal is to steer clear of irradiated mutants, pools of nuclear waste, and other hazards in order to find the 5 individual Vault- Tec bobblehead locations before the timer runs out. Pipfall is relatively easy to locate, as it can be found on a desk in the boss room in Fort Hagen Command Center. As it happens, Vault Dwellers will visit this room in particular during the main quest “Reunions”. For the uninitiated, players will round up an adventuring party and be given story beats in the mini- game, and after reading them through, decisions need to be made using a menu to determine what happens next in the narrative for the eponymous hero. To discover the Grognak Holotape, it’s required to travel to the settlement of Good Neighbor. While completing the main story quest “Dangerous Minds”, the game can be found on a desk in the basement of the Memory Den. As if it needed to be explained, players will pilot a jet to rack up points by blasting wave after wave of ever- advancing extraterrestrials in the sky. Once gamers have access to the robotic detective and potential companion Nick Valentine’s office in Diamond City, the Holotape can be found in the back corner of the room resting on a desk. It’s also important to note that while this particular issue can be collected more than once, multiple copies of Zeta Invaders won’t be rewarded.
